Why I deleted half my apps
I went through my phone the way you go through a closet you have been avoiding. One screen at a time, asking the same question of each app: when did you last earn your place here?
Most could not answer. They were there because installing is easy and removing never feels urgent. So they sat, blinking, asking for a few seconds each, all day.
Half of them are gone now. The phone does less. So does my attention when I pick it up, which is the part that actually mattered.
The goal was never a minimalist home screen for its own sake. It was to stop being available to everything, so I could be present for something.
